In Memory of Penny Bell
Yesterday at around 4pm an angel was born. The greatest woman I've ever known passed away after a brief hospitalization.
My grandmother raised me from a baby, and in her final years we took care of her through alzheimer's and dementia. She fell and broke her femur 6 weeks ago, and it has been downhill ever since. Although we have been gone from Carson for about 10 years, my grandmother was known by many people when I was a child.
She managed the Sierra Sage Motel at 801 S Carson St, where the Plaza now stands. Growing up watching her interactions with her tenants, I learned many valuable life lessons.
I learned compassion, I learned work ethic, and I learned not to let people to mistake kindness for weakness. She touched the lives of many, and stuck with me through my young struggles. She never turned her back on me when everyone else did, and for that I can never give enough thanks. You will be missed, until we meet again. I love you Grandma. R.I.P.
