With electric bike market soaring, Carson City Bike Shop celebrates first year
A year ago, we were wondering what tomorrow would look like in an uncertain world. Downtown Carson City was a place for political rallies, seemingly endless road construction and nearly all the normal activities were on hold, including the Nevada Day Parade.
The perfect time to open a new bike shop, according to David Midboe, president of Concept Automation Systems. Concept, an established manufacturer of automated packaging and assembly machinery, saw opportunity in the exploding electric bike market.
Three years ago, it began designing and assembling electric bicycles at its operation near the Carson City Airport which were sold from the factory store and online.
When the retail location at the corner of 7th and S. Carson Streets became available, it seemed the ideal spot for Carson City Bike Shop, www.CarsonBikes.com, a full-service bike shop specializing in electric bikes.
“Our decision was easy”, Midboe says. “With Carson City’s commitment to safe streets, expanding cycling lanes and an abundance of nearby trails, I can’t imagine a better fit for our business."
Since opening the bike shop, we’ve been fortunate to benefit from the downtown improvements including marked bicycle lanes the length of downtown and the awesome dedicated pathway running south to the Spooner junction. I’m incredibly grateful for the welcome we’ve received in the community, especially during these uncertain times. For anyone who hasn’t experienced riding an electric bike, come down for a test ride and I guarantee it will put a smile on your face."
Please join us for coffee and donuts on Nevada Day (Saturday) to help us celebrate Carson City Bike Shop’s first anniversary at 701 S. Carson St.
