Capital City Community Band's annual 'Support the Band' concert to feature vocalist Stephanie Gansberg
We invite you to a special concert of the Capital City Community Band this Sunday, Jan. 28, 3:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on the corner of Division and King Streets, Carson City featuring vocalist Stephanie Gansberg. This is our annual “support the band” concert, a free-will donation will be accepted to defray the costs of music, rentals, insurance and other band expenses.
Ms. Gansberg lives in Carson City when not attending college at Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) in Mequon, WI, where she is majoring in Elementary Education. She graduated from Carson High School in 2013, where she sang in several of the School Choirs and was in several years of Nevada Northern Zone Honor Choirs and All-State Choirs, singing in the Soprano voice sections.
While at CUW she has sung in several of their choirs also, including several solos. She has sung the National Anthem for various events in northern Nevada including Carson High Basketball and Soccer, UNR Men’s Basketball, the Reno Aces, and the Reno Bighorns. Stephanie has performed with the Carson City Community Band several times also.
Stephanie Gansberg will perform Blue Moon by Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart in keeping with the unique blue moon total lunar eclipse coming up on January 31. Blue Moon was written in 1937 as the featured song in the motion picture "Hollywood Hotel".
We will also perform a Norwegian march, "Valdres" and a tribute to Ray Charles, along with other marches and audience favorites.
Although our band is all volunteer — no one receives a salary, we still incur some expenses, such as the requirement that we have adequate insurance and that we are able to purchase new musical arrangements.
Please also note that our next formal concert will be on Sunday, March 4, 3:00 p.m. in the Bob Boldrick theater in the Community Center, 851 East William, Carson City. This will be our annual salute to young musicians’ concert.
As always, we are grateful for your past and continued support of the Band. We plan to play many of the favorite music pieces we have performed over the past 40 years. Please join us!
