New Reno church strives for 'Authentic Community' in the area

Event Date:
February 3, 2019 - 10:30am

REN0 — A new church set to open in February is creating an “authentic community” in its fellowship that is dedicated to becoming a positive force in the area.

“We are about people, first,” said Senior Pastor David McDowell of Victory Christian Fellowship. “We are about each other. When we do that, our fellowship becomes an authentic community that wants to make a difference in the Reno, Carson City and Lake Tahoe areas.”

What VCF means by “authentic community” is being a fellowship who is exactly who they say they are going to be, according to the teachings of Christ.

“An authentic community of believers cares for the entire community, no matter where they’re at,” McDowell said. “We’re called to be in community with one another. We’re called to be in relationship with one another. When one person hurts, the other person hurts alongside them. When one person has joy, the other people are feeling joy with them.”

VCF is appealing to people in the Reno area of all ages, who come from different walks of life. McDowell talks about how they’ll stand out among other similar, popular churches in the area.

“VCF caters to all ages whether you’ve grown up in church or you’ve never been,” he said. “What sets us apart is our dedication to be an ‘authentic community’ of believers.”

Victory Christian Fellowship is set to open its doors on February 3.

We welcome all inquiries! For more information about VCF or to schedule an interview, email media@vcfreno.org, or call 775-499-5802.
