Beginning Friday, June 26, the Carson City Fire Department will implement fire restrictions on City and privately-owned lands within Carson City. Vegetation in western Nevada has dried out significantly. A large crop of dry grass and brush is evident at lower elevations, and trees and other forest vegetation at higher elevations are quickly drying out.

Flynn Robert Gabriel, 36, was arrested on two felony warrants issued out of Carson City Justice Court. The first is for lewdness with a child under 14 years of age. The second is for use of a minor as agent involving drugs, both issued on April 17, 2020.

Black Lives Matter protesters took to the Legislature building in Carson City Saturday afternoon to protest police brutality.
As a part of their demonstrations they enacted a “lie-in” chanting “I can’t breathe,” the last words said by George Floyd, a black man killed by police in Minnesota.
Carson City Sheriff’s Officer deputies and Sheriff Ken Furlong blocked the street from motorists during the lie-in.

UPDATE: The victim stated that though the suspect was yelling racial and anti-semitic slurs, the suspect did not know about the victim's ancestry and the victim does not believe this is a hate crime. The victim stated the violent attack was due to the man being "deranged."

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles today temporarily suspended all non-commercial driving skills tests statewide after one drive examiner in Las Vegas contracted coronavirus.
“We’re taking this brief pause to re-evaluate our protocols. Even though our examiners have been wearing personal protective equipment, the driver and the examiner sit in close proximity during a test. Finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) show initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 10,620 for the week ending June 13, down 128 claims, or 1.2 percent, compared to last week’s total of 10,748. This is the seventh consecutive week of declines in regular initial claims. Through the week ending June 13, there have been 528,545 initial claims filed in 2020, 506,893 of which have come in the last fourteen weeks.

Douglas County firefighters were called to a fire reported off of Jack's Valley Road Thursday afternoon north of Genoa.
At 4:26 p.m. firefighters told dispatch Jack's Valley Road was closed at Eagle Ridge and that the fire was on private land.

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested for DUI drugs first and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the report, deputies were driving south on Saliman when they noticed the vehicle in front of them swerving across the double yellow line. Deputies followed the vehicle and observed it swerve out of its lane another time before going to stop at a stop sign for a “short period of time.”
