Fire destroys historic Dayton Depot, multiple agencies respond
Central Lyon County Fire, Carson City Fire Department and Storey County firefighters knocked down a structure fire Wednesday that destroyed the historic Dayton Depot.
The fire was initially reported as a structure fire at the Dayton Carson and Colorado Railroad Depot but began moving swiftly into the wild land before firefighters were able to respond and push back, a Central Lyon Fire battalion chief said. The building was destroyed.
Firefighters knocked down the blaze, which was reported at around 3:30 p.m. The Dayton railroad depot building is located at 58 Main Street in Dayton. The building was being refurbished and had been at the present location for 16 years, according to the battalion chief.

Firefighters were then called out to another structure fire at around 4:30 p.m. near River Street that was quickly knocked down. We will update when information becomes available.
