Virginia City’s Labor Day weekend has activities lined up for the whole family to enjoy. Events include the Heritage Days and Battle Trains re-enactment, a Comstock drilling contest, a Labor Day parade, museum attractions, tours and more.

The 2nd annual 5K run raising funds for the Northern Nevada Alzheimer’s Association (NNAA) will be returning to Carson City on Saturday, Sept. 17.

According to event organizer Brenda Collings, each year NNAA holds a big annual walk at the Sparks Marina, but she wanted to create a fundraising event closer to home.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will discuss health grants, possible expansion of the courthouse, build appeals, Ross Gold Park and more at their upcoming meeting.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Bob Crowell Boardroom of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

We are looking for a few great volunteers! CASA of Carson City helped change the stories of more than 100 abused and neglected children last year. As a CASA volunteer, you aren’t just an important piece of that work, you are the heart and soul of what we do!

Free radio theater acting workshops are available for area senior citizens. The workshops will be held at Dayton Valley Library, 321 Old Dayton Valley Road, Dayton. A 37-year-old Carson City man was arrested for driving with an expired license plate and for a felony third DUI.

According to the arrest report, Ryan Wendt was arrested in the area of College Parkway and Retail Drive after the Carson City Fire Department requested deputy assistance with an intoxicated subject.
