UPDATE 11:26AM: Carson City Fire Department reports a quick fire attack prevented the garage fire from extending into the main house. Carson City firefighters were assisted by East Fork and Truckee Meadows Fire Departments. No injuries were reported. Crews will remain on scene until the fire investigation is complete.

UPDATE 9:55AM: Fire investigators are at the scene of Monday morning's fire. Carson Now readers who live close to the home report the occupants are safe. No word yet on damage or the fire's extension into the home.

My father was a gymnast, and I was a springboard diver, yet neither of us could ever have imagined executing a full-layout back-somersault on the ground.

This year's Youth Wildlife Conservation Experience will take place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center on Jan. 20, 2024. This is a free family event. The goal is simple, to excite and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

UPDATE SUNDAY: A 23-year-old woman died Saturday as a result of injuries in a crash that happened in the 2500 block of Airport Road, Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed. The condition of the second patient flown by Care Flight is unknown at this time.
The woman's identity has not been released. The crash is under investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours Saturday.

The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City offers the last of three weekend holiday train rides with Santa today, Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023.
The Santa Train has 11 rides, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., running every 30 minutes.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has investigated a former staff member at China Spring Youth Camp who was arrested on December 14, 2023 and booked on two separate crimes of sexual conduct with children under the care, custody, control of supervision of the Camp in violation of NRS 201.555.
The crimes are category C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison for each offense and fines up to $10,000.
