Minden man arrested for DUI first after failing to use a turn signal, operating with a .344 BAC
A 55-year-old Minden man was arrested in the area of N. Carson Street and E. Washington Street around 2 a.m. Friday morning for DUI first after failing to use a turn signal.
Deputies were patrolling in the area when they witnessed a pickup making a lefthand turn onto Carson Street from 8th Street without using a turn signal.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver who identified himself.
As deputies were speaking with the man, they noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle, and that the man had eyes that were bloodshot and watery.
Deputies asked the man if he had been drinking, and he said yes, and agreed to standardized field sobriety tests.
The man failed all of the standardized sobriety tests, including the nine step walk and turn, the one leg stand, the horizontal gaze nystagmus test, and more.
Deputies asked if he would submit to a preliminary breath test, and he agreed. The results of the test were a .344 BAC.
The man was transferred to the jail without issue, and originally agreed to a breath test, but later refused. Deputies sought a warrant, which was granted just after 3 a.m. and blood was retrieved from the man’s arm.

— A 58-year-old Carson City man was arrested for failing to register with his annual certification as a sex offender, as well as a parole violation for possessing cannabis.
According to the arrest report, deputies were summoned to the front counter of the Sheriff’s Office on report of a man, Arden Butler, being on scene who was out of compliance.
Butler is a convicted tier III sex offender and failed his annual verification. A search of the sex offender registry revealed Butler was arrested in 1995 for sexual assault and lewdness with a child under the age of 14.
When deputies arrived, they saw Butler sitting in the waiting area of the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies went to review Butler’s paperwork, and when Butler saw them do this, he left the building and attempted to leave in his car.
Deputies stopped Butler from leaving and placed him in handcuffs. Deputies advised parole and probation he was in violation of his parole due to the fact that he had cannabis on his person.
Butler told deputies he has been in the hospital on a few occasions between September, when his annual verification was do, and now. He said that he no longer lived at his registered address, and had become transient.
Because he did not update his address, deputies found him in violation of parole.
He was transferred to the jail and is being held without bail.
