Dozens of people are facing an eviction notice from the Carson Pines Apartment complex on David Street in Carson City with as little as six days notice to move.

The problem is that the apartment complex’s upper floors have become significantly damaged and deteriorated to the point of being structurally unsound — an issue management has known about, and been to court for, since at least June 2021.

A Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report reveals more details into the fatal shooting and arrest for suspected open murder that happened Wednesday night in the area of East William and Stewart streets.

Samuel William Cocking, 19, is being held without bail for alleged open murder and firearm possession offenses. The adult male victim was allegedly shot by the suspect and died after being flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno.

A vehicle crash Thursday morning on I-580 northbound near the Galena Creek Bridge is causing travel problems through Washoe Valley. According to Nevada State Police, the crash happened at 6:44 a.m. and injuries were reported.

Northbound motorists can expect delays. To divert, motorists can take Alt Highway 395 at the intersection of Eastlake Boulevard and Bowers Mansion Road/Old US 395 near Franktown just north of Carson City.

UPDATE: 9:55PM: The victim of the Carson City shooting Wednesday night has died. The suspect, Samuel Cocking, 19, has been booked into the Carson City Jail on charges of open murder, possession of an altered/removed firearm serial number, and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong. He's being held without bail.

The victim information is pending an autopsy by the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Carson City Sheriff’ Office is seeking the public’s help identifying a debit card fraud suspect who used cards at a local pharmacy to withdraw money from a victim.

Dorothy Betsy Schram was born on November 19, 1925 in Birregurra Victory Australia, the third of nine children, to Stan and Elsie Schram.
