Nasia Perkins, a sophomore at Carson High School, won the Carson City Host Lions Club Student Speaker Contest on February 12th held at La Capital Cafe and Grill in Carson City. She was awarded a stipend of $75. Ms. Perkins is a member of the Carson High Speech and Debate Team coached by Patrick Mobley.

Two men were arrested early Tuesday morning for suspicion of disorderly conduct, obstructing and trespassing, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department has identified the four victims who died in a suspected drug overdose on Monday. Three of the victims are South Lake Tahoe residents and one man is from Douglas County.
