Petition launched for pedestrian signal at US-50 in Mound House following death of 10-year-old
Prompted by a tragic pedestrian crash in January that killed a 10-year-old girl, an online petition is open for Lyon County citizens that is asking for a pedestrian crossing signal on US-50 in Mound House.
Ella Márquez Conchas, 10, died Jan. 23 in a pedestrian accident on US-50 in Mound House.
The petition was started by Courtney Richie. It can be found and signed by clicking here. It states the following:
We citizens of Lyon County, Nevada petition the county to install a pedestrian crossing signal at the intersection of Red Rock Road and US Highway 50.
There are insufficient safety measures at this intersection for pedestrians that have resulted in fatal accidents.
These events have cost both residents and sheriff's department grief, time and money.
We as a community demand they the county fully fund the installation of a crossing signal to prevent future tragedies, such as the loss of a 10-year-old in January 2024. It is the community's goal to make the road safer for both pedestrians and drivers alike.
