Carson City Fire Department was called Monday morning to a gas leak in the area of Elizabeth and West Robinson Street.
The gas leak, reported at 8:46 a.m., is from a 2-inch main, according to a CCFD battalion chief. Southwest Gas has been called. Nearby residences have been evacuated and traffic in the area has been closed. Motorists should avoid the area.

Wilber Ernesto Martinez Guzman has been sentenced for a slew of convictions following his 2019 murder spree around northern Nevada.

Guzman was sentenced to an additional 214 years on top of his four lifetime terms last week, including 54 years related to robbery charges in Carson City stemming from the murder scenes.
