The situation for many local (and national) child care programs is dire. While many folks are continuing to need child care for their children, or those who are just now heading back to the office, finding child care can be difficult to do. Child care programs, despite their best intentions, are having trouble finding and keeping staff, which means less child care options for families.

UPDATE 4:22PM: Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the search and investigation into the suspicious disappearance of Naomi Irion, 18, of Fernley, Nev.

Naomi was last seen in the parking lot of Walmart in Fernley on March 12, 2022 at approximately 5 a.m. hours. The investigation now indicates that the suspect may be driving a dark 2020 or newer Chevrolet, 2500, High Country 4 Door pickup truck.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help and information in finding a possible kidnapping victim who was last seen in the parking lot early Saturday at Walmart in Fernley.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, March 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will hear a presentation regarding a review of the Carson City Juvenile Detention Center, which underwent a needs assessment.

Within the review, it was determined the facility is outdated, non-compliant with several federal and state standards, and lacks basic safety measures like sprinkler systems and emergency access roads.
