VIRGINIA CITY — Historic Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City, Nevada, hosts “Stone Cold Killer – A Jack Stone Mystery,” this spring. Performed by Piper’s Players, this murder mystery is open to all ages.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in locating and identifying a driver in a hit and run crash that happened Saturday, March 26, 2022 at approximately 6:55 p.m.

Dead and downed firewood cutting permits will be available starting May 2, on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Bridgeport and Carson Ranger Districts. Forest officials stress that it is extremely important for firewood cutters to pay special attention to the terms and conditions of their permit.

On Friday, April 1 suspect Troy E. Driver was formally charged and booked on open murder with use of a deadly weapon, robbery, burglary and destruction of evidence.

Driver remains in custody at the Lyon County Jail.

The Northern Nevada Hot Air Ballooning club will be hosting a community event this Saturday, April 2 beginning at 7 a.m.

The community is invited to come and watch as the balloons are inflated and take flight, and are encouraged to take photos and learn more about how hot air balloons work!

Washoe County Sheriff's Office Patrol Deputies have arrested Jonathan Stremski, 41, of Incline Village on multiple felony counts following an incident on March 30, 2022.

Lisa Schuette, who represents Ward 4 on the Carson City Board of Supervisors, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. A Carson City native, Lisa is a retired health teacher and probation officer who is best known as founding chair of the Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI), which raised the funds needed to build and equip the city's state-of-the-art animal shelter.

On Saturday, March 12, 18-year-old Naomi Irion was waiting inside of her car in the parking lot of the Fernley Walmart just before 5:30 a.m., when the shuttle to her job at Panasonic would be arriving. Irion often waited in her car while waiting for the shuttle.
