CARSON CITY — Beginning Wednesday Nevada’s COVID-19 Dashboard has been updated to include COVID-19 vaccination for those ages 6 months to 4 years old.

The Carson City Planning Commission has delayed action on a request by Qualcan, a cannabis company based in Las Vegas, to open an additional retail marijuana outlet in Carson City. To the Commission’s credit, the matter was tabled in anticipation that a delay might encourage additional public input. The matter will be reconsidered at the Commission’s July 27th meeting. For those of us who fought vigorously against the licensing of any recreational marijuana outlets, the very fact that this matter is back before the Commission is disheartening.

UPDATE 6:30 p.m.: Peckham clarified that FISH has been aware of the pest issue, and were working with a pest control company who have now been fired; a new pest control management company was hired today. However, Peckham stated that the issue was fairly under control until about approximately one week ago when the mice population increased significantly.

He hopes to be able to reopen the dining room on Friday.

MINDEN — On July 7, and July 8, 2022, investigators from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Reno Police Department’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking team along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations conducted a human trafficking operation in the Stateline, Nevada area at Lake Tahoe.

My friend Julie gave me some deep purple penstemon transplants a few weeks ago that are already blooming, even after a bit of transplant shock. She told me this penstemon species, possibly ‘Rocky Mountain’, reseeds readily, so I’m looking forward to having many more of them in the yard in the future.
