Carson City deputies make arrests for suspected DUIs, probation violation

A 56-year-old man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of DUI, no valid license, no proof of insurance and driving with a suspended registration.

According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle after running the license plate, which returned suspended and not valid since June 13, 2020.

The officer made contact with the driver and requested his license, proof of insurance and proof of registration.

The man was only able to provide a driver's license, which dispatch confirmed was suspended and not valid. While speaking with the man the officer could smell an odor of alcohol on his person, as well as having red watery eyes and slurred speech, the report states.

The man agreed to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a preliminary breath test of .091 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. At jail he agreed to an evidentiary blood test. Bail: $2,178.

In other arrests:
— A 34-year-old Las Vegas woman was arrested Friday, 2:38 a.m. in the area of Proctor and Carson Street for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI.

Deputies were dispatched to a North Carson City bar for a report of a battery. Dispatch advised two females were assaulted by three unknown people outside the bar.

Deputies made contact with the reporting party who was bleeding and had cuts on her face and a scrape on her elbow. The deputy could smell an odor of alcohol from the reporting party. She also had thick slurred speech and watery eyes. She described that she and her "sister" were assaulted outside a bar. A deputy asked if she knew who assaulted her. She stated no but advised the bar staff knew the individuals, the report states.

Deputies made contact with the other female who was assaulted. The deputy could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage, and observed she had thick, slurred speech and red watery eyes. Due to the injuries Carson City Fire Department responded and, later, cleared the two women. A deputy asked one of the women if they had some place to go. The woman stated they were going to walk down the road to get home.

The deputy cleared the call and went to the dispatch center in an attempt to locate video footage outside the bar.

When the deputy arrived dispatch advised one of the women had gotten into an SUV, picked up the other female and began driving. The deputy returned to the area and a parking lot and made contact with the driver parked in the parking lot and asked her if she had been driving, the report states. She replied she had not. She was told there was video of her driving. The woman admitted driving the vehicle, the report states. Three other witnesses also advised they had seen the woman driving.

She submitted to field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. She provided a preliminary breath test of .237 and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. Bail: $1,137.

— A 31-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday for suspicion of DUI and violation of bail conditions.

According to the booking report, deputies were notified by the man's father that he had been at his home, was under the influence and became aggressive with him. He stated he called CCSO because his son left the residence in a vehicle and he was concerned about his safety and the safety of others.

A CCSO sergeant located the vehicle and made a traffic stop after observing the man's driving pattern.
The man could not find his wallet. He was asked to exit the vehicle. The man refused but did turn off the vehicle and handed the officer the keys. The man stated he wanted to talk with his attorney. He attempted to call his attorney but it went to voicemail, the report states.

Deputies observed the man had red watery eyes, slurred speech and a moderate odor of alcohol coming from his person as he spoke. He was asked again to exit the vehicle. The man again refused and was removed from the vehicle by the sergeant and a deputy, the report states.

The man refused to do field sobriety tests. He was arrested for suspicion of DUI. He was read his implied consent. He agreed to give a breath test. Later he changed his evidentiary test to a blood test. He was also placed on hold for violation of bail conditions. Bail: $4,137.

— A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday for misdemeanor probation violation.
According to the booking report, a reporting party advised to dispatch that the woman was in violation Department of Alternative Sentencing conditions. The woman was ordered through DAS not to have contact with the reporting party. The woman was at the man's residence. Bail: $3,000 cash.

Carson City Sheriff’s Office K9s take 1st in Narcotics Detection and finish 2nd team overall at the 3rd Annual Regional K9 Unit Challenge.

On Oct. 19 nearly 40 K9 teams from 13 agencies competed in four events centered around the primary duties they perform in the field. Carson K9s controlled the narcotics detection portion, finishing 1st, 2nd, and 4th, while Washoe K9 took 1st and 2nd in apprehension, and Lyon K9 took 1st in agility.
