Deadline nears for filmmakers to sign up for Carson City film noir competition
Can you make a film in two weeks? How about a Film Noir?
Sure you can make a film in two weeks! Ever want to make your own detective film? How about a mysterious woman finds a note in her purse? How does the story play out? Can you make a film on your phone? Yes! Do you have a couple friends who can talk real slow and shadows across their face give you chills? Suspense?
C5 2nd Unit, a division of Carson City Classic Cinema Club, is looking for more teams of amatuer filmmakers to build a short film in two weeks. You've got to hurry though! The registration ends Wednesday and the teams start making their films at noon after reading the email they are so excitedly awaiting in their inbox.
This summer's short film competition is "Dark Alleys Film Noir Shorts Competition", film noir style of filmmaking is characterized by such elements as cynical heroes, stark lighting effects, frequent use of flashbacks, intricate plots, and an underlying existentialist philosophy.
The email arriving at noon will include the prop, sound effect and line of dialogue that are to be used in the films. All teams have the same prompts, this makes it fun for the audience to watch for these three things, laughter, ooh and ahhs can be heard throughout the theatre as the prompts are recognized.
