Just before 12:40 p.m. a two vehicle crash was reported on Fairview and I-580.

According to deputies on scene one person is lying on the ground.

All westbound and eastbound traffic has been stopped on Fairview and traffic is being diverted.

Careflight is enroute to the scene.

The next Carson City School Board meeting will be held Tuesday, Oct. 27 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Among the items for discussion are a report on return to school measures, a possible bond resolution, activities and summer projects.

Douglas County and the State of Nevada is hosting an in person educational event to inform citizens on flood preparation on November 17, 2020 from 3-4:30pm in the Ranch View Room of the Douglas County Community and Senior Center.

Just before 4:30 p.m. a traffic accident was reported involving three vehicles near Carson Street and Eagle Station.

Reverend Dr. Gary Robert Buchanan, local composer, conductor, Sonatherapist, minister at the International Community of Christ, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on October 16, 2020, after a year-long fight against cancer. He is survived by his wife Amanda Buchanan, sons Bradley Buchanan of Ventura, California, and Kym Buchanan of Wisconsin, daughter Amy Buchanan-Rodriquez of Reno, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For the week ending October 17, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 8,734 down 230 claims, or 2.6 percent, compared to last week’s total of 8,964 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR).

Through the week ending October 17, there have been 728,045 initial claims filed in 2020, 706,393 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

Hello fellow anglers. In only a couple weeks time, we are going from fall to winter (but only briefly and then right back to fall). Still, it is a stern reminder that winter is right around the corner.

Last weekend, Renee and I fished the Truckee River with a friend. At 7 a.m. we were wearing flannels and jackets, by noon, we were back in tee shirts.

The fishing was very slow, but we did manage a few small rainbows to take our lures.

The Carson City Fire Department was called early Thursday evening for a fire with smoke and flames visible at the landfill off of Highway 50 East.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing and endangered veteran. The missing person is identified as Robert Hester, 61, and was last seen near his Carson City residence on or about October 1, 2020.

Verne R. Horton of Carson City, Nevada passed away at his residence on October 19, 2020. He was born February 1, 1941 in Los Angeles, CA and is survived by loving and devoted wife of 23 years, Brenda; sons Sean and Scott, daughter Debra, 5 grandchildren and brother, Jim Horton.

MINDEN — The Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrested three on drug charges after a large amount of marijuana, concentrated THC, and cash was discovered following a traffic stop on Highway 395.

Juan Salazar first moved to Carson City 16 years ago to be closer to his parents who were, at the time, operating an eatery within Mo and Sluggo's.

Since then, the family has been serving up dishes throughout Carson City, first at Mo and Sluggo's (now Westside Pour House), then at the Horseshoe Club (now closed), and finally at the Comstock Casino, where they remain as Juan's Mexican Grill.

A 37-year-old Carson City woman was arrested late Wednesday for misdemeanor suspicion of battery in an incident at an apartment complex, according to a sheriff's office booking report.

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor offenses, a sheriff's office booking report states.

CARSON CITY — Gov. Steve Sisolak, the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office and the Governor’s Office of Economic of Development announced Wednesday an additional infusion of $20 million in to the Pandemic Emergency Technical Support (PETS) grant program, which opened for applicants on Monday.

A Carson High School senior will be working on transforming C Hill back to its original design this Saturday as part of an Eagle Scout project.

Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday morning to the area of South Carson Street near Eagle Station Lane for a two-vehicle crash with injuries.

V&T Railway will hold a casting call for its 2020 Santa’s Drive-Thru Village on Monday, Oct. 26 and Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Eastgate Depot in Carson City. The railway is looking for energetic performers to portray elves, chefs, Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer in addition to individuals to help direct traffic throughout the event.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020 of an additional death due to COVID-19 in the Quad County region. The individual was a male Lyon County resident in his 80’s. CCHHS is also reporting 26 new cases and 33 additional recoveries in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,646, with 1,444 recoveries and 21 deaths; 181 cases remain active.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the community in reference to vandalism that occurred near the area of Highway 50 E and Flint Road.
