However, say hello to Chugg, who is our adorable Pet of the Week today.

Chugg came to The Nevada Humane Society in Carson City on the 29th of September, 2020 when he was found as an injured stray.  

They have doctored this shy but sweet boy up and he is ready to find his forever home.  

Early voting in Carson City begins tomorrow, Saturday Oct. 17 and will continue through Oct. 30.

According to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR), initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 8,964 for the week ending October 10, up 1,023 claims, or 12.9 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,941 claims.

Through the week ending October 10, there have been 719,311 initial claims filed in 2020, 697,659 of which have been filed since the week ending March 14.

A magnitude 2.65 earthquake was recorded late Thursday night approximately 2.4 miles south of Dayton, northeast of Carson City, according to the Nevada Seismological Laboratory.

Carson City Health and Human Services reports Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020 that there are 24 new cases and 5 additional recoveries in the Quad county region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,563, with 1,364 recoveries and 19 deaths; 180 cases remain active.

Rapid detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, in about 30 seconds following the test, has had successful preliminary results in Mano Misra’s lab at the University of Nevada, Reno. The test uses a nanotube-based electrochemical biosensor, a similar technology that Misra has used in the past for detecting tuberculosis and colorectal cancer as well as detection of biomarkers for food safety.
