Carson City MAC, Sierra Room suggested to be renamed in honor of the late Mayor Bob Crowell
The Carson City Parks and Recreation Commission discussed renaming the MAC and the Community Center’s Sierra Room in honor of the late Mayor Bob Crowell during their meeting Monday.
The commission issued a recommendation to rename the Multi-purpose Athletic Center (MAC) the Robert “Bob” Crowell Multi-purpose Athletic Center.
In this recommendation it also suggested the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center be renamed the Robert “Bob” Crowell Board Room. The Sierra Room is where the majority of supervisor and commission meetings take place in Carson City.
A discussion and likely decision will be made on the renaming of the facilities at the Board of Supervisor’s meeting held on Nov. 5.
Mayor Bob was honored with the renaming of a westside trail near Ash Canyon, which was named “Bob’s Trail.”
Mayor Bob Crowell served as Carson City mayor from 2008 until September when he passed surrounded by family.
Following his passing he was honored with a ceremony at City Hall, along with a bell-ringing ceremony as Mayor Bob was also a retired U.S. Navy Captain.
