Local eatery Juan's Mexican Grill to open second location in downtown Carson City
Juan Salazar first moved to Carson City 16 years ago to be closer to his parents who were, at the time, operating an eatery within Mo and Sluggo's.
Since then, the family has been serving up dishes throughout Carson City, first at Mo and Sluggo's (now Westside Pour House), then at the Horseshoe Club (now closed), and finally at the Comstock Casino, where they remain as Juan's Mexican Grill.
Battle Born Social closed down during COVID-19, and the venue has been left vacant, prime real estate in Downtown Carson City. Juan and his wife Maria will be opening their second Carson City location downtown.
There are currently three generations of the Salazar family in their business, from grandparents to parents, aunts and uncles, to children, nieces and nephews who all do their part in the business.
"My wife Maria and I are excited to be back in downtown, and hopefully the customer base we had in downtown before will continue to support us with their business," said Salazar.
Juan says that they will operate both a restaurant and bar within the venue, and will be offering Mexican food as well as the possibility for a more diverse menu as well.
Originally they were planning on opening by Nevada Day, but now due to COVID-19 they have moved their opening plans to sometime during November.
Juan's Mexican Grill will be opening their new location at 318 N Carson St.
