Nevada Humanities will conclude its Why It Matters: Civic and Electoral Participation series — a national initiative about civic and electoral engagement — with two events in May. Why It Matters: Journalism and Democracy will be held on Tuesday, May 11 from noon to 1 p.m. on Zoom.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Tuesday, May 4, 2021 that there are 11 new cases and 20 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad County region. This brings the total number of cases to 12,535, with 11,939 recoveries and 225 deaths; 371 cases remain active.

Two were booked Sunday for warrants and other alleged offenses after they were caught jaywalking, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisor’s meeting will take place Thursday, May 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Robert ‘Bob’ Crowell Board Room in the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Items up for discussion include Historic Preservation Awards, new books for the library, a water main extension, and more.

MINDEN — The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man who was shot early Tuesday in a Topaz Ranch Estates home in Wellington.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated this incident and determined that a domestic violence situation took place between adult family members. During the course of the incident, an adult family member obtained a firearm and fired several rounds into the residence which was occupied.

UPDATE 5:14PM: The shelter in place order has been lifted in Stagecoach, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office Facebook page. There is no concern for public safety at this time due to this incident. A press release is forthcoming.

Lyon County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called Monday morning to a residence on Pawnee Trail near Cimarron Trail in Stagecoach for a report of a family dispute. The caller advised that the dispute resulted in gunshots being fired at the residence, according to a LCSO news release.

Partnership Carson City conducted its annual Drug Round-up Saturday, April 24 to raise awareness around the impacts of keeping unused and expired prescription drugs in households. The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board on Wednesday unanimously approved a new transportation plan and policies that will do more to reduce reliance on the automobile and get projects on the ground than any previous plan, the agency said.

A mobile home in Carson City is uninhabitable after catching fire early Sunday morning, according to KTVN Channel 2 Reno. No injuries were reported. The fire happened after midnight Sunday in the 3500 block of Highway 50 East near Goodwill.

A traffic accident was reported on Deer Run near Highway 50 at 1:40 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

According to dispatch a quad rolled a mile from Highway 50 on Deer Run near the bridge.

First responders responded to a reported traumatic injury at Warm Springs Prison Saturday afternoon.

According to dispatch, a 28-year-old male suffered a traumatic injury to his back after he was tackled, following an alleged attempt to tackle a guard.

First responders are currently enroute to the prison as of 1:20 p.m. on Saturday.
