DETR: Nevada JobConnect web form is not mandatory job search requirement
CARSON CITY — With the return of the work search requirement, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation said Monday that it has received several JobConnect form submissions and many emails requesting additional information.
DETR explains that it wants to clarify for those claimants that they should fill out the web form requesting assistance on the JobConnect website only if they need help with their job search. This is not a mandatory requirement; claimants would only use this form to request one-on-one assistance with job training or work search.
DETR says it is confident that most claimants can return to doing work search activities on their own. Claimants can then report on their work search when they file for weekly benefits.

On April 29, DETR announced that beginning Sunday, May 2, those claiming unemployment in Nevada will have to keep records that they are actively looking for work or participating in an approved training program.
In advance of the State goal to return to 100 percent capacity by June 1, 2021, economic demand for workers is increasing. “By September the COVID expanded unemployment benefits will expire, and it’s critical that we set claimants up for success by offering access to open positions in many industries, or training for a new career,” said Elisa Cafferata, Director of the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.
