Carson City arrests: Roommate told to leave, not take vehicle jailed for allegedly taking vehicle
A 34-year-old woman was arrested early Monday for suspicion of felony theft and driving a stolen vehicle, according to a Carson City sheriff's booking report.
Brittany Haugen was taken into custody at 1:06 a.m. in the 3900 block of Highway 50 East. According to the booking report, on Sunday officers meet with the victim of a vehicle theft. The victim advised Haugen was her roommate and the two had not been getting along. The victim stated she left for Reno to be with family and directions for Haugen to be gone when she returned.
When she returned her vehicle was missing from her residence. The victim stated in the past Haugen had been allowed to use her vehicle but this time she had been given specific instructions not to take the vehicle while the victim was away from her home. The victim showed the investigating CCSO deputy text messages that stated she was not to use the vehicle.
The deputy collected a written statement and a citizen's arrest form to charge Haugen with alleged theft, according to the booking report. Later, another deputy observed the vehicle parked in front of a gas station on Highway 50 east.
The investigating deputy met with the deputy and Haugen. The investigating deputy spoke with Haugen who advised she had the keys to the vehicle in her purse and claimed to have been allowed to drive the vehicle by the victim, according to the report.
The deputy referenced the text messages and the victim asking for her keys back. Haugen told deputies here phone batteries had died, even though she had sent numerous texts over the past two days. Haugen was arrested for felony suspicion of theft and stolen vehicle receiving or transporting. Bail amount listed for both offenses: $20,000.

— A 33-year-old Sparks man, Vandon James Reynolds, was booked into jail April 30 for multiple felony warrants including 9 counts burglary, 2 counts obtaining money by false pretenses, 9 counts uttering a forged instrument and 2 counts misdemeanor false pretense to obtain money, goods and services. Bail: $20,000 bondable.
— A 21-year-old Reno man was arrested May 2 for suspicion of a second DUI, and suspicion of three other misdemeanor offenses: headlamp violation, a traffic signal violation and a tail lamp violation.
According to the booking report, at around 11:07 p.m. a deputy observed a vehicle that appeared to be driving at a high rate of speeding near a gas station in the 800 block of Retail Court. The vehicle was driving westbound on College Parkway and did not have its rear taillights and front headlights illuminated. As the vehicle approached the intersection at Retail and College Parkway, it failed to come to a complete stop at the solid red light.
The officers followed the vehicle, and observed the driver was attempting to turn on the front lights but instead was flashing them and the rear taillights were still off. The officer activated his red and blue lights to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle.
The vehicle failed to pull over to the right. The officer activated his siren and the vehicle continued to travel west on College Parkway until it stopped at the intersection of College and North Carson Street. When the light turned green, the vehicle pulled into a convenience store parking lot.
The deputy exited his patrol vehicle and made contact with the driver and a front passenger. When the driver rolled down the window, the officer was able to smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle and observed the driver to have red, watery eyes and was slurring his words, the report states.
The deputy explained to the man the reason for the stop and had him exit his vehicle. The officer asked the man how much he had to drink and the man replied one beer. The passenger also had red watery eyes and slurred speech. The arresting deputy was later informed by other deputies there was voimit on the front passenger door.
The man agreed to participate in standardized field sobriety tests. He was asked how many alcoholic beverages he had consumed and he stated a few and then he stopped around 2 hours prior, according to the arrest report.
The man showed multiple signs of impairment indicating he was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle and was arrested for suspicion of DUI and the other alleged misdemeanor offenses, the report states. The suspect denied wanting to provide the deputy with a breath test or blood draw.
At jail he provided deputies with a preliminary breath test of .15. The on-call district attorney and a judge were contacted for a telephonic affidavit, which was granted and a blood draw was taken and booked into evidence. A criminal history check showed the man was found guilty of DUI in December 2019. He was booked for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI 2nd, a headlamp violation, tail lamp violation and a traffic signal violation. Bail: $2,746.
— A 39-year-old Carson City woman was arrested May 1 in the area of South Carson Street and Moses Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and driving on a suspended driver's license.
According to the booking report, a reporting party advised Carson City dispatch there was an intoxicated female and male getting into a vehicle. The RP stated the vehicle was last seen northbound on Carson Street and entered a fast food drive through. The officer located the vehicle exit and turn on North Carson Street where a traffic stop was initiated. The officer made contact with the female driver and observed the woman's speech was thick and slurred and her eyes red and watery, according to the report.
When the woman exited the vehicle, the deputy could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from her person. The woman agreed to participate in field sobriety tests. She advised she had consumed two peers and two shots at a casino. The woman showed signs of impairment. She refused to provide a preliminary breath test, the report states She was read the "implied consent" from a department issued card and advised she would provide a blood sample. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI and driving on a suspended driver's license. Bail: $1,774.
— A 37-year-old woman was arrested May 2 in the 1000 block of Woodside Drive for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery and for a misdemeanor warrant issued in 2018.
According to the booking report, a deputy responded to the location for a report of domestic battery. The deputy arrived and spoke with the victim, who had scratch marks on both of his shoulders and behind his right ear. He declined medical attention. The man stated he and his girlfriend were arguing over a vehicle, and that she attempted to take the keys away from him and in the process scratched and slapped him and ripped open his pants pocket.
The officer then spoke with the woman, who advised she and her boyfriend were arguing and he was attempting to leave the apartment. She stated he had the keys to her vehicle and she wanted the keys back. She stated the man has access to the vehicle and he has driven it several times before. She stated she did not want the man taking the vehicle and had others he could take. She stated during the argument she slapped the man and attempted to retrieve keys from his pants pocket. She stated she called law enforcement because the man did not give her the keys.
A deputy did a warrant check on both, with the woman having an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She was taken into custody for the warrant and for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,547.
— A 34-year-old Diamond Springs, Calif., man, Christopher Allen Ferreira, was arrested May 2, 8:11 a.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street for a felony stolen property warrant issued out of El Dorado County, Calif., suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, also a felony and two misdemeanor offenses: jaywalking and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail: $23,709.
