Partnership Carson City 'drug round-up' collects 436 pounds of pills, 244 pound of syringes
Partnership Carson City conducted its annual Drug Round-up Saturday, April 24 to raise awareness around the impacts of keeping unused and expired prescription drugs in households. Thanks to its participating locations and the community, Partnership rounded up 436.5 pounds of pills and 244 pounds of sharps.
“Proper disposal of prescription medications saves lives, and it’s part of our mission to educate and offer our community a way to do so,” said Hannah McDonald, Partnership Carson City Executive Director. “We’re truly grateful for everyone who participated and did their part in keeping Carson City healthy.”
Partnership Carson City would like to thank Save Mart Supermarkets, Smith’s Food & Drug Store and FoodMaxx in Carson City for making the round-up a complete success.
This annual event is designed to protect vulnerable populations in the community through education about proper disposal of unused or expired prescription drugs, over-the-counter products, prescription liquids, pet medications, sharps (syringes) and more. The effort is part of the federal drug round-up initiative.
