Ten years ago there were several bookstores that called Carson City home, but one by one they've slowly gone out. Morley's Books was the last of these to close last August, leaving one remaining bookstore in operation: Browser's Corner Bookstore.

LCSO has closed off the area and investigators are searching for information and evidence. The 18-year-old woman, Naomi Irion, has not been located at this time.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help and information in finding a possible kidnapping victim who was last seen in the parking lot early Saturday at Walmart in Fernley.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on Thursday, March 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will hear a presentation regarding a review of the Carson City Juvenile Detention Center, which underwent a needs assessment.

Within the review, it was determined the facility is outdated, non-compliant with several federal and state standards, and lacks basic safety measures like sprinkler systems and emergency access roads.

Our loving brother and friend, James Robert Czadek, passed away at his home in Long Beach on February 23, 2022. Jim was born in Hayward, Wisconsin on October 6, 1952 to Paul and Beverly Larson Czadek.

The Lyon County Board of Commissioners is scheduled to conduct a special meeting on April 14, 2022 to determine how to spend approximately $6.16 million of ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act of 2021) funding.

The Carson High Safe Grad Safe & Sober 5k has become an annual tradition held on the first (or second) weekend of February; this year the race will be held on April 2, 2022.

An 18-year-old high school student was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly pushing his girlfriend into a wall “using great force.”

According to the arrest report, the student was arrested at the high school after the School Resource Officer was called in by the principal and dean.
