Have you ever seen a beautiful glass piece at an art fair and wondered to yourself “How did they do that?”. In this workshop students will be introduced to the properties and uniqueness of designing with glass and then move on to making a project of their own.

The candleholder they will design can be used for a myriad of purposes – key holder, candy dish, housewarming or holiday gift, etc.

It’s not too soon to prepare for your next semester or session at Western Nevada College. Students new to WNC began registering for Summer and Fall 2022 classes on Monday, April 11.

RENO — In the tradition of Noble Deeds Day, created by Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve in 2019, Noble Studios’ philanthropic program, Noble Deeds, is excited to announce that Communities In Schools of Nevada (CIS) will receive nearly $200,000 of pro bono digital marketing services in 2022. CIS of Nevada was selected from more than 50 applications submitted by Nevada nonprofits.

The Silver City Volunteer Library and the Silver City Preservation Society is hosting the First Annual Memorial Day Book Sale on Monday, May 30. A huge variety of genres and titles will be available including art books, cook books, fiction, non fiction, children's and young adult books, DIY, field guides, history, biographies and much more. Refreshments will also be served.

High winds barreled through the Carson City area Monday morning and will continue through the day, with gusts of 60 mph to 70 mph possible in wind prone areas from Reno to Carson Valley and even higher along Sierra ridges.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — As snow is melting off the trails and the days are getting warmer, for the most part, many recreationists are ready to get outside on foot and on bikes. One of those ways to enjoy the outside at Lake Tahoe that is gaining in popularity is on an electric bicycle, also known as an e-bike. Where one can take an e-bike is often confusing.

The Carson Valley Art Association announces the opening of their art show April 6, at the Copeland Gallery, 1572 US Hwy 395 in Minden. The show runs April 6 through May 30. Hours at 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday.

The suspect in the kidnapping and murder of 18-year-old Naomi Irion was formally charged with murder Friday morning in court.
