A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday for suspicion of being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drugs with suspected intent to sell and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Carson High School’s Speech and Debate team had a commanding performance at the December tournament held at Hug High in Reno over the weekend, with 23 Carson City students participating and 19 advancing to final rounds.

I arrived at the Carson City DMV yesterday to check in for my 11:45 appointment to renew my drivers license. After going through the line to check in I was told to take a seat and wait for my number to be called. The office wasn't any more crowded than on any other day I'd been there.

UPDATE 8PM: Roadways have begun to open up following the crash investigation involving a pedestrian and motorist that happened early Tuesday evening. According to Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Matt Smith, the adult female victim was flown by CareFlight to Renown Medical Center in Reno where she is being treated for injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The crash happened in a crosswalk where the victim was crossing west to east and was struck by a vehicle. The driver is an adult and impairment is not suspected, said Sgt. Smith.

On Monday evening at 10:29 p.m., the Carson City Sheriff’s Office began receiving the first of numerous information tips from social media platforms of a threat to Carson High School. HCC hosts speakers from Neighbor Network of Northern Nevada

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties (HCC) hosts a public breakfast meeting every other month at the Silver Springs Community Center. The next meeting is Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023 at 9 a.m.

A 19-year-old Carson City man who appeared to be suffering from mental health issues was arrested in the 1300 block of Fleetwood Ave. for attempted grand larceny of a motor vehicle after allegedly trying to steal a Door Dasher’s car.

According to the arrest report, the Door Dasher was dropping off a delivery and left his vehicle running. While on his way back to the vehicle, he saw a “young skinny male in a white hoodie” had gotten into the driver’s seat and was attempting to steal and drive off with the vehicle.

She is currently on track to satisfy her graduation requirements a semester early and is planning to take a short break from school before joining the military to follow her goal and lifelong ambition to go into nursing.

A 23-year-old woman and a 72-year-old man were arrested in the area of Research and College Parkway Thursday night for possession of “suspected methamphetamine dust particles.”

According to the arrest report, deputies made a traffic stop due to a license plate being unreadable at 50 feet away. Deputies made contact with the driver, James Weber, and the passenger, Monica Lopez.
