Dirt is something that comes out of a vacuum. Can you imagine growing plants in that? In England, dirt refers to feces, as in dog poo. Soil, on the other hand is an accumulation of the decaying bodies of plants and animals — many of them microscopic; of salts, chemicals and minerals; of particles of sand, silt, and clay; of organic matter; and of an amazing number of living organisms such as fungi, worms, insects and more.

Carson City seems to be on quite the roll, for the second time in one week we’ve received nationwide recognition citing us as one of the best places to live.

With the weather getting warmer, moving season is beginning to pick up steam. Many are already taking advantage of the sellers market by listing their current homes and looking for fresh starts in new places. With moving comes some necessary tasks and to-dos that leave you open to missing important details that could save you a lot of money.

After Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced that on April 5 any Nevadan aged 16 and older would be allowed to get the vaccine, Carson City Health and Human Services began preparing for the new changes so that anyone within the Quad-County region who wanted their COVID-19 vaccines could receive it.

Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will be Ali Banister, Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Carson City Juvenile Services. At the tele-luncheon she will detail the range of juvenile services currently available in Carson City, with special emphasis on the psychological toll the COVID-19 pandemic has taken on the community's young people and their educational experience.

Todd Bishop passed peacefully on March 28th from Cancer. He was a friend to all he came in contact with.

With his love for golf he was Superintendent at Empire Ranch Golf course and Glenbrook Golf Club.

He is preceded in death by his Mother Patricia and daughter Alexia.

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting 19 new cases and 53 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 11,928, with 11,117 recoveries and 222 deaths; 589 cases remain active.

A California man who has had run-ins with law enforcement in several states involving theft was taken into custody earlier this month after a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective located him in a motorhome that turned out to be stolen.

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak announced Tuesday a two-month extension to the state’s eviction moratorium, which was originally set to expire on Wednesday. The state moratorium will not be extended past the end of May, according to the governor's office.
