Carson City receives second honor in one week as great place to live
Carson City seems to be on quite the roll, for the second time in one week we’ve received nationwide recognition citing us as one of the best places to live.
First, it was the designation by Insurify as one of the Best Places to Retire in America and on Friday, we were recognized by rent.com as No. 4 out of 10 as the “Least Crowded to Live in the U.S.” Rent.com targets first-time renters, especially millennials, connecting them to all different types of rental properties.
While we may find the new rents in our city a bit hard to swallow, rent.com cites, “Renting a one-bedroom apartment here will cost you around $1,412 per month, making all this nature and activity affordably accessible.”
You can tell some research went into this designation, for they recognize the importance of our history blending with the culture of today by writing, “Nevada is so much more than desert landscape and neon-lit casinos, and Carson City reminds us of that. With its snow-capped mountains and proximity to Lake Tahoe, Carson City prides itself on the generations of residents who've called this city home.
There's plenty of hiking, skiing, biking, rafting and more in and around Carson City. And, the semi-arid climate makes it possible to enjoy being outdoors all year round. With minimal rain, and more snow in the mountains than the valley, each season has a lot to offer outdoor enthusiasts.
A rich history, with its own marked walking path, Carson City offers residents a connection to the past that doesn't overtake the culture of today.”
The walking path to which they refer in the historic Kit Carson Trail, better known to locals as the former Blue Line Trail, that begins at the Nevada State Museum. This is a great weekend to take a walk along the trail.
So, who are the other three cities they think maybe a tiny bit better than us? Anchorage (a bit too cold for us); Buckeye, Ariz., (too hot in the summer for us); Suffolk, VA (too hot and humid in the summer and cold in the winter for us); and then there’s Carson City — just right for us!
