Every year, Carson City School District's 8th graders are invited to attend a trip to Washington, D.C. during Spring Break. During the chaperoned trip, students will learn about U.S. history and how it influences society today. A group of hopeful participants are holding a bake sale to raise money towards trip expenses.

On Jan. 27 Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 hosted a fundraiser for Night Off The Streets, Inc. warming shelter. Ticket sales and all proceeds from the silent auction and raffle garnered $7,411 from this worthwhile event.

This was augmented by a Community Investment Program (CIP) grant from the State and National Elks Foundation of $1,548. A local Elk donated an additional $52 to round the grant up to an even $1,600 check as shown in the picture. Total raised was $9,011.

YERINGTON — On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2023, the Lyon County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution to propose the exchange of real property owned by Lyon County located at 158 Garnet Circle, Mound House, for real property owned by Central Lyon County Fire Protection District located at 56 Red Rock Road, Mound House, for the purpose of establishing a Mound House Community Center in the future.
