Carson City Tails and Trails happening this Saturday at Riverview Park
Need a new furry companion for Valentines Day and/or want to learn more about Dog related resources in Carson City? The Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space department, along with the Nevada Humane Society, will be hosting Tails and Trails Dog Adoption Event this Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Riverview Park.
The event includes music, friendly shelter dogs, yard games, community organizations, and more!
Shelter dogs from the Nevada Humane Society will be strutting their stuff around the park trying to find their forever home. You will get a chance to bond and adopt them right on sight! The pups may go fast, so come early if you are looking for a new best friend! All adoption fees will apply as well as pre-adoption paperwork.
This fun day will also include a booth with the Carson City Park Rangers who will be promoting a more 'paws-itive' trail system! You and your family can learn the etiquettes of recreating with your dog, dog safety, dog parks in Carson City, who to call when conflicts arise, meaning of “under voice control”, and everything you want to know about the dog's wild relative. Even if you're not looking for a new friend, stop by and get your stickers, brochures, JR Ranger supplies, etc.
Other dog related and outdoor organizations will be in attendance as well! Those not looking to adopt a new fur-baby but want to know more about community K-9 resources can visit booths by the Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI), the Carson Water Subconservancy District (CWSD), and learn about our watershed wildlife with the Carson City River Wranglers! Also, test your pooper-scooper skills in a game all about cleaning up after your pet with the Carson City Volunteer Coordinator.
Date: Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023
Time: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Riverview Park
If visiting the park with your pet on that day, please make sure to keep them on a leash within the festivities area. Shelter dogs will be walking around on leash with handlers, and we want to avoid any possible conflicts that may arise with an off-leash dog.
Parking is available around the grass area within the park. There is also parking available along Marsh Road.
