The Carson City Sheriff's Office tactical team is executing a search warrant Tuesday night in the 2600 block of Carmine Street, said Sheriff Ken Furlong. The area is temporarily closed to traffic.
The search warrant is related to the Jan. 24 shooting in which a 16-year-old Lyon County juvenile was shot in the face and another teen in the leg in a gang-related shooting.
The 16-year-old juvenile from Carson City with gunshot wounds to both legs was later arrested for suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and discharging a firearm within the city limits.
The Lyon County teen who suffered injuries to the face after being shot is recovering.
Prior to Tuesday's warrant, the Sheriff's Office had arrested four juveniles and two 18-year-old men involved in the shooting in which investigators determined that approximately 17 shots had been fired from handguns, damaging several vehicles. The escaping vehicle was ultimately recovered at Sherman Lane and Concord Drive. Inside the vehicle that had fled the area, detectives recovered multiple baggies of marijuana and mushrooms.
