Just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday, a three car crash involving a head-on collision was reported with injuries at South Carson St. and the bottom of Spooner Junction.

Vehicles are currently blocking traffic.

The League to Save Lake Tahoe and ECO-CLEAN Solutions are kicking off the 2023 summer season by expanding their robot-powered, beach-cleaning initiative to cover entire Tahoe beaches.

The BEBOT – an all-electric, solar and battery-powered, sand-sifting robot – completed the first-ever full cleanup of a private beach in Lake Tahoe, combing through Tahoe Beach Club’s shoreline at Stateline, Nevada. More full beach cleanings at sites around the Lake are on tap for the coming months, and a second machine will be added to the robot fleet.

The Proscenium Players Inc.’s (PPI) upcoming production of Gaslight will raise money for Carson City’s Meals on Wheels program. The encore performances take place July 7th, 8th and 9th in the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center.

On June 28, 2023, at approximately 6:40 PM, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division received a 911 call reporting that a male subject was walking along the Union Pacific Railroad tracks in Silver Springs, NV and actively firing a weapon in the direction of houses in the 2500 Block of Ramsey Street.

Joycie “Jodi” Kelley Liebhard went to her permanent home in Heaven June 25, 2023 at the age of 78. Jodi was born October 11, 1944 in McAlester, OK, to Lealand and Clema Lee Kelley, who preceded her in death along with her beloved sister Lawanda Rapp.

A crash was reported just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the southbound lanes of I-580 near College Parkway.

A motorcycle and a car were involved in the crash.

Injuries at this time are unknown.

Motorists should avoid the area.

First responders are enroute to the scene.

After announcing their new in-patient facility in Dec. 2021, Carson City Community Counseling Center will be opening their brand new 50-bed Regional Wellness Center facility this summer.

An open house for the facility is scheduled for this Friday, with a ribbon cutting at 1 p.m. A donuts and coffee food truck will be on scene, and the community is invited to attend.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Fourth of July holiday is next week and marks one of the busiest times of year in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) has provided the following helpful information and links to ensure a safe holiday weekend at Lake Tahoe.

​The July 4th weekend means an increase in boating activity on Nevada’s waters. Unfortunately, it also means an increase in drinking related accidents as well. That's why game wardens from the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW), along with law enforcement agencies from across the state, will be out in force this holiday weekend (July 1-4) targeting boaters operating under the influence (OUI) as part of Operation Dry Water.

On behalf of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees, this message serves as notice that the July 11, 2023, school board has been cancelled. The next school board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

This year the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, will be holding our 20th Annual Police Motorcycle Training and Competition. The event is being held on July 14th, and 15th at Battle Born Harley Davidson in Carson City, Nevada.

This two-day event brings together Officers, Civilians, and for the first time ever, Retired Military and National Guard Motorcycle riders from across the region and state.

A 45-year-old transient man was arrested near Retail Drive after allegedly masturbating at a coffee shop.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the business on report of indecent exposure. They made contact with a supervisor of the business who said an employee had seen a regular customer masturbating in a chair facing the coffee bar where employees were working.

UPDATE 10:30 a.m.: The Carson City Fire Department provided the following:

Earlier this morning your Carson City Firefighters worked to extricate the driver of a concrete truck that rolled over near William St & 580. Safely removing the driver was a difficult and technical rescue. Once the driver was extricated from the truck he was flown via Care Flight to Renown Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

An overturned semi-truck caused a closure of the I-580 on ramp at Highway 50 E early Tuesday morning.

It is not known at this time if injuries were sustained or if any other vehicles were involved.

A motorcyclist was injured and was reported to be on the ground, but conscious and sitting up.
