Passenger dies in Washoe Valley vehicle crash early Sunday
Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol division is investigating a fatal crash that happened early Sunday morning in Washoe Valley.
At approximately 12:55 a.m. NHP troopers responded to the scene of the crash on US-395 Alternate near William Brent Road.
Preliminary information shows that a vehicle, listed by troopers as an Infiniti, was traveling southbound on US-395 Alternate near Willam Brent Road. For unknown reasons the vehicle left the travel lane, striking two paddle markers.
The car then rotated and reentered the roadway into the northbound travel lane, became airborne, travelled over a culvert, striking a tree and and then coming to rest in a residential property field, according to the preliminary investigation.
The passenger of the vehicle died at the scene. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. Speeding is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The passenger's name has not been released.
