12th Annual Ecumenical Choir Festival
On Sunday, May 22nd, at 3:00 p.m., the 12th Annual Ecumenical Choir Festival Concert will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 200 Island Avenue in Reno, Nevada. Five choirs from a wide area of Northern California, Reno and Carson City will combine their more-than-50 voices to sing four selections: Thomas Tallis’ poignant “If Ye Love Me”; Henry Purcell’s majestic “O God, Thou Art My God”; Bruce Greer’s lively and rhythmic arrangement of “The Lord Reigns!” and Franz Schubert’s enthusiastic “Sanctus” from the Mass in D. Several choirs will also perform an individual choral work of its own choice. Dr. Chris Alford of Sacramento will return for his second appearance as guest conductor for the festival.
The Northern Nevada Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (NNAGO) sponsors the event and invites the public to attend free of charge. An offering will be taken to defray expenses and to support the chapter’s Organ Scholarship fund. Since 1983 the NNAGO has offered scholarships to students interested in pursuing Organ studies. Current scholarship recipient, Freeman Tucker, 14, of Fallon will also present an organ piece during the concert.
