Carson City Freeway beautification information meeting
Tuesday, January 19, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Think our freeway is going to be just boring gray sound walls? Wrong! A committee has been working diligently to make our completed interchanges a work of art and you are invited to provide your input. The informational meeting will be held in the Sierra Room and front lobby of the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Carson City and Gardeners Reclaiming Our Waysides (GROW) are inviting the public to attend an informational meeting regarding the proposed landscape, hardscape, visual, and aesthetic treatments for the Carson City Freeway. These improvements are being proposed at the North Carson Street, Arrowhead Drive, and College Parkway interchanges and at the Northgate Lane, Emerson Drive, and Northridge Drive/Carmine Street grade separations. Carson City has received approximately $2.2 million for these improvements to the freeway corridor.
$1.7 million was secured through federal funding by the efforts of Senator Harry Reid and
GROW. In addition, Carson City received $500,000 through the Nevada Department of
Transportation’s Community Match Program. The design costs for the project are being funded by the Regional Transportation Commission and will be developed to meet NDOT’s US 395 Landscape and Aesthetic Corridor Plan.
The informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Sierra Room
and front lobby of the Carson City Community Center (851 East William Street) from 5:30
p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, learn more about the
project, have the opportunity to ask questions, and provide comments on the project. A project overview presentation by the design consultant will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room.
Project representatives will be available during the entire meeting to discuss the project with you individually and answer your questions.
Comments on the project may be submitted in writing at the meeting. In addition, written or e-mail comments will be accepted through Tuesday, January 26, 2010. Please e-mail comments to VKrahn@ci.carson-city.nv.us with a reference to the Carson City Freeway Landscape in the subject line or mail your comments to Vern L. Krahn, Park Planner, Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, 3303 Butti Way, Building #9, Carson City, Nevada, 89701.
