UPDATE: The suspect in the Monday crash, Thomas Paul Meader, 30, of Carson City, faces felony eluding causing injury and property damage, and felony hit and run causing injury. Misdemeanor charges including domestic battery, unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, no valid driver's license, no proof of insurance, and two counts violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $59,583.

Bruce is back. Bruce Jabbour returns to Carson Station Hotel & Casino, 900 S. Carson Street, as General Manager of the Carson City property.

Loyal guests know Jabbour as part of the management team that took over hotel and casino operations at Carson Station when it was purchased by Las Vegas based 777 Gaming two years ago.

“It feels like coming home,” said Jabbour. “I love seeing familiar faces and meeting new guests who are enjoying all that Carson Station has to offer. This is an exciting time for this property and I am thrilled to be part of the team again.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada hosted their annual fundraiser, “World’s Greatest Luau and Kids’ Auction” on Sunday in Carson CIty with more than 700 attending.

This year the event was a luau theme, complete with mai tais, a roasted pig, and Club member entertainment. Marv Teixeira, former Carson City mayor, was presented with the first-ever “Distinguished Service Award” for his commitment to the Club and the youth in Carson City.

Two accidents this afternoon at roughly the same time in Carson City were called into dispatch. One involves a crash between a bicycle and a vehicle and the other was a two-vehicle crash, according to Carson City dispatch.

The bicycle accident was reported at around 2:35 p.m. in the area of Telegraph and Winters. The injured person was said to be a juvenile with a headache and lacerations to her face. Carson City Fire Department rescue teams have responded.

In the vehicle accident on Musser and Mountain streets, it appears to be a non-injury accident.

A 19-year-old Carson City man faces five misdemeanor charges including assaulting a police officer after he barricaded himself inside his father's bedroom, with the father asking officers to have his son removed.

The man was arrested at 9:20 p.m., Sept. 7 in the 900 block of Woodside Drive. According to arrest report, officers were in the area attempting to locate the man, a known gang member, following a fight earlier in which he fled from officers.

Two female inmates in the Carson City Jail face felony battery charges after a fight erupted at around 3 a.m. on Sept. 6. Amber Shields, 21, and Kayla Marie Robbins, 20, each face a felony charge of battery by a prisoner.

According to the arrest report, Carson City jail officers spoke with a woman who advised there had been a fight inside the jail involving three women, the victim, Shields and Robbins and that the victim had been punched in the face and head.

The women’s organization from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and women from the Salvation Army, joined their efforts to assemble personal care kits for those in need.



“Our goal is to build 100 care kits and deliver them to the Dew-drop Inn, the Salvation Army, and the F.I.S.H. organizations here in Carson City,” said Caresse Williams, Humanitarian Specialist for the Latter-day Saints and organizer of the event.
