With two successful job fairs this year that put more than 100 people to work, planning has begun for a third one in the mix set for Friday, Oct. 4 at the Carson City Community Center.

Hosted by Carson City Health and Human Services, JOIN and The Carson City Chamber of Commerce, the Fall Job Fair will be open to the public from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be up to 50 employers at the event, all seeking the right person to fill their job openings, said Lynn Ellis, WorkForce Program Case Manager for Carson City Health and Human Services.

The Carson City Library presents a lecture by Susan M. Schneider author of the book “The Science of Consequences: How They Affect Genes, Change the Brain, and Impact Our World” on Monday, Sept. 9, 6:30 p.m. The Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC) 108 East Proctor Street.

Ten years in the making, Schneider’s book describes the science, its role in the larger realm of nature and nurture, and its many applications-including favorites like parenting language development, and self-control.

Zoom on in to the 17th annual Lyon County Fly-In, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29, (Note the new dates!) at the Silver Springs Airport for a weekend of fun-filled skies. The Fly-In is officially open from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday and there will be a pancake breakfast each day, free to pilots who fly in, from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

A 21-year-old Carson City man faces a misdemeanor domestic battery charge after allegedly hitting his fiance with a water bottle, pouring water on her and shoving her to the ground.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 1100 block of Woodside Drive at around 8 a.m. regarding a domestic dispute.
