This is a final reminder that many nearby California waters will close to fishing on Friday, November 15.
So if you want to fish any of them, you better hustle because you are rapidly running out of time.
Those waters will not re-open until the last Saturday in April next year (April 26, 2014), and that is a long, long time to wait to wet your line.

Restaurant inspections are made weekly by the Carson City Health and Human Services Environmental Health Division. This week's inspections for the week ending Nov. 8 includes a meat, deli, produce and other departments of two retail grocers, restaurants, fast food restaurants and a bakery.

Did you know that the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council has ranked Nevada as the 3rd best tax system for business in the U.S.? They also ranked California as 45th!

Perhaps some folks don’t understand the big difference between Nevada and California. It’s really quite easy. Less regulation and lower taxes. In California, business is treated as the “enemy” and in Nevada; business is treated as a partner in helping bring in new jobs, money, growth, etc.

Thomas Holmes, father of Jasmine Holmes, who had left her Carson City home and had not been seen since Nov. 7, reports that his daughter was found safe and in good health Tuesday morning.

He said he would like to thank the Carson City community for forwarding the Facebook post about Jasmine, 14. She was located by family, friends and with the assistance of the Carson City Sheriff's Office, he said.

A Carson City woman was arrested Monday and faces two felony charges of attempted robbery after admitting to authorities that she was the one who handed notes to clerks demanding money at Burger King and 7-Eleven on Nov. 3.

The Dayton Valley Corner Store was robbed at 8 p.m. on Monday, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office reports. While a weapon wasn't involved in robbery, the suspect took approximately $200 in cash.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 foot five inches tall, 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hat, black sweatshirt with the words CITY on the front, light colored blue jeans and light colored shoes. He was wearing a black ski mask or black bandana over the front of his face and wore black gloves.

The family of Carson High School sophomore Jocelynn Gill, diagnosed last month with brain cancer, remains by her side as she undergoes chemotherapy.

The 16-year-old has been at University of California San Francisco Benioff Children's Hospital since Oct. 19, beginning chemotherapy on Oct. 28, said Amy Schreck, Jocelynn's aunt, in an email.

With the summer's Bison Fire still in the public's eye, a 10 to 15-year plan for the Pine Nut Mountains is up for public comment, which has been extended through Nov. 29, the Bureau of Land Management Carson City District announced.

The BLM and Sierra Front Field Office crafted the Pine Nut Land Health Project Draft Environmental Assessment for public review. The project area is located in the Pine Nut Mountains in Douglas, Lyon and Carson City counties and is designed address future management and vegetation treatment on up to 24,654 acres.

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Nov. 8, 7:28 p.m. in the 3000 block of North Roop Street. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

According to the arrest report, the man, driving a red 1998 Ford Mustang, was accelerating quickly, spinning his tires and doing "doughnuts" in a convenience store parking lot near the gas pumps in front numerous citizens and small children. It was observed that people were grabbing their children and moving them to safety away from the vehicle as the man was pulling the stunts.
