Here is the Carson City road report for the week of November 18-24: There will be intermittent one-way flagger controlled traffic on Fifth Street between Saliman Road and the freeway overpass.

There will be sidewalk work along the south side of Silver Oak Drive between N. Carson Street and Imperial way. Please use caution.

The following roads will be closed from Tuesday through Thursday between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. due to utility work. Only local resident access will be allowed:

— Mayflower Way between Nye Lane and Sherman Lane.

For the 15th year Friends To All volunteers will dress up in Santa suits and helper costumes to bring joy and cheer to senior citizens throughout Carson City.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, these festive groups will log between 150 and 200 stops as they make their rounds visiting and delivering gifts. Friends to All is seeking names and addresses of seniors who would enjoy a Santa visit this year.

A Carson City man has admitted to discharging a firearm into the air Thursday night in the 3400 block of South Carson Street. He faces two misdemeanor weapon charges.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the address at 8:45 p.m. after a report of a male shooting a firearm within a residential area.

UPDATE: A 35-year-old man is in custody after a fight broke out Thursday night in an apartment in the 3400 block of South Carson Street. The male victim, 45, was not injured by the gunfire but was in need of medical attention, reports Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

A medical helicopter was called and the victim transported to Renown Medical Center in Reno because of a non-gun related injury to his head. The incident was reported to dispatch at around 8:45 p.m.

Nevada Department of Wildlife officials handled two bears on Thursday, trapping one near Reno while the other was found injured at Lake Tahoe and had to be euthanized.

The injured bear was found in Incline Village at around 8 a.m. Game wardens had been informed the bear was hurt, possibly by a vehicle, and was observed not being able to use its back legs. The bear was tranquilized and examined by a veterinarian before being put down due to the severity of its injuries.

Three people were arrested Thursday in connection with an attempted burglary in the 2700 block of North Carson Street.

Two of those arrested were a married couple, Shawna Lia and Jeffrey K. Freeman, ages 36 and 38, respectively. Both face various felony and lesser charges. The third person, a 52-year-old Carson City man, was arrested for suspicion of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to burglarize and obstructing a police officer.

Who doesn't smile, nod at the bell ringer and put some extra change in the Salvation Army kettle over the holiday season?

It takes a lot of people to see through the annual campaign. The Salvation Army in Carson City will hold a job fair Friday and is looking for kettle workers, an office assistant and drivers to help with the holiday season. The fair runs from 10 a.m. to noon at the Salvation Army, 661 Colorado Street.
