A 49-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 15, 9:12 p.m. in the 3200 block of Imperial Way. Karen Horn faces a felony charge of parole and probation violation, gross misdemeanor theft and a misdemeanor warrant charge.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to the area of 20 College Parkway for a theft report. Horn was over at a friend's residence where the friend discovered that $170 cash and her food stamp cad was missing from her purse.

Two Carson City men were arrested Dec. 13, 1:19 p.m. at East Long and Rand Street. Gregory John Modugno, 59, and Charles William Jameson, face multiple felony drug charges after being arrested during a sting operation where there was a transaction of methamphetamine.

According to the arrest report, cooperating sources made contact with Modugno who stated he would sell approximately a gram of methamphetamine for $100. The source stated Modugno would pick up the money from the source and meet them nearby to purchase the meth.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will conduct saturation patrols in the city limits on Friday, Dec. 20. In addition to focusing on impaired drivers, patrol officers will also be looking for driving and registration violations.

These patrols are designed to help keep our roadways safe from impaired and unsafe drivers, said Sgt. Scott McDaniel.

Today is the last railroad run with Santa Claus at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City.

The historic and picturesque V&T Railway steam locomotive No. 25 pulls the Santa Train, departing from Carson City’s Wabuska Depot at the corner of Fairview Drive and Carson Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All seats are $3 and children 3 and younger are free. Tickets are available at the depot.

Inching closer to the Christmas holidays, the Carson City Public Works department has a number of projects it will be working on now through Dec. 22.

There will be lane closures at the following locations Monday through Friday. Traffic control measures will be in effect. There will also be sidewalk closures and detours will be signed.

The closures will be at the following places:
Westbound Long Street between Roop Street and Marian Street.
Northbound Roop Street between Adams Street and Beverly Drive.
