A fire is burning at the Bango oil refining plant west of Fallon off of U.S. Highway 50. Channel 2 News is reporting that one patient has been confirmed and three air ambulances were called.

A 34-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday and faces two counts of vehicular homicide in the June 23, 2013 early Sunday morning fiery crash on Highway 50 that killed two people after the driver was going the wrong way.

Roland Peachee, a survivor of the attacks on Pearl Harbor, shares his story on the 72nd anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack.

Twenty-five-year old Navy sailor, Roland Peachee, died that day Pearl Harbor was attacked. At least, that’s what his foster parents thought for 42 years, until he showed up on their doorstep.

There will be lane closures at the following Carson City locations beginning Monday, Dec. 9, weather permitting, through Friday, Dec. 13. Traffic control measures will be in effect. There will also be sidewalk closures and detours will be signed.

Ice skating for the kids at Arlington Square Ice Rink across from the Carson Nugget and wine stops in downtown Carson City are on tap today.

The Carson City Downtown Business Association says that even though it's chilly outside, you can keep warm by bundling up, putting on a pair of skates or walking along the streets of downtown, where you can shop for holiday gifts (there's several gift shops and shopping opportunities throughout downtown) and sip some fine wine at any number of stops.

Icy, slippery roads but surprisingly very few reported accidents in Carson City this Saturday morning, according to Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch.

Deputies patrolling the streets have come upon a number of spinouts, and a couple of fender benders but thus far no injury accidents as of 9:15 this morning, a dispatcher said.

A grassroots project to raise money and bring awareness of ongoing hunger issues in the Carson City area — The Empty Bowls Project — was the bright diamond among the many shining stars featured at Friday night's downtown Silver and Snowflakes Festival of Lights celebration.

More than 600 handcrafted artisan bowls made by dozen of local potters were featured for this inaugural event, led by Robin McGregor, owner of Carson City Pottery. Festival-goers paid $10 for each bowl, which were filled with steaming hot varieties of soup donated by local restaurants.

To provide escape from the frigid temperatures expected overnight and through Monday evening, the American Red Cross and Friends in Service Helping, otherwise known as FISH, have partnered with Carson City to open a warming shelter.
