A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday in the 800 block of East Long Street. He faces two failure to appear in court charges and driving on a suspended license, all misdemeanors.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy stopped the man after observing an unlicensed vehicle traveling south on Roop Street.

Jim Klipp of Kit Carson Toastmasters in Carson City took top honors at both the International Speech Contest and the Table Topics Contest at the Area Level on March 8.

The International Speech Contests challenges each contestant to present their best five to seven minute speech. Each of the local clubs may select a representative to compete with the winner advancing to the next level. The finals will be held this year in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Carson City, Nev. – As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ongoing “We’re for Water” campaign, this year’s Fix a Leak Week encourages Americans to help put a stop to the more than 1 trillion gallons of water wasted from household leaks each year.

Sponsored by the EPA’s WaterSense program, Fix a Leak Week is March 17-23. In support of this public awareness campaign, the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada is encouraging consumers to find and fix residential leaks to save water in Nevada.

Carson City Resident Lisa Helget filed for Carson City Supervisor Ward 1. She has lived in Carson City since 1977, growing up and attending schools here. In 2013, Lisa retired from the Nevada Department of Transportation after 27 years working in the Highway Construction Division.

Fans from all over the world are attending the Bonanza Round Up which comes back to the Carson City, Lake Tahoe, Virginia City areas June 26-29. Some of the countries represented are England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, Chile and Canada to name a few.

"Bonanza" was one of the most popular TV westerns that aired from 1959 through 1973, and continues in reruns today. The "Bonanza" theme song is one of the most recognizable.

The pilot of a 1946 Cessna 120 found crashed east of Carson City on Sunday has been identified as Joseph James Miceli, 59, of Wellington, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.

Four people were arrested this weekend by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team in two separate instances that involved heroin possession.

A Carson City couple were arrested Saturday, 12:44 p.m. in the 800 block of North Carson Street. Jeffery K. Freeman faces felony charges of failure to appear on a warrant for category B burglary, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
