Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City will host its third Northern Nevada Youth Art Show Saturday, March 15 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Gallery owner Jeff Pace has become the local “go to” guy for many artists of all ages. He has hosted hundreds of Nevada artists over the years and is now seeing artists as young as seven come in to his gallery with their parents to seek his opinion, advice and mentorship on their budding talent.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect in the Feb. 8 theft of several tablets from the Game Stop store near Topsy Lane south of Carson City.

The suspect is a white male adult, late teens or early 20’s, with a muscular build, approximately 5 feet 8-inches to 6 feet tall with short blond hair and was clean shaven. He was seen wearing a light gray t-shirt with a logo and blue jeans when he entered the store, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.

One person was taken by Care Flight to Renown Medical Center after a crash in Douglas County Tuesday afternoon that involved a semi-truck and trailer loaded with cattle.

The accident happened at the intersection of State Route 88 and Waterloo Lane, closing Mottsville Lane, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. A power pole was knocked down in the crash that affected more than 2,000 NV Energy customers.

A SUV crashed into a tree early Tuesday morning on State Route 28 north of Highway 50 and Spooner Summit, critically injuring a passenger, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol. A preliminary investigation indicates the driver of the SUV may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The Nevada Rural Housing Authority will host a free Homebuyer’s Expo on Saturday, April 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Ponderosa Room at John Ascuaga’s Nugget, 1100 Nugget Ave, Sparks.

The Expo is designed to educate prospective homeowners on what goes into buying a house, as well as maintaining the home after purchase. There will be presenters from NRHA, as well as lenders, builders, title companies and non-profit partners.

A 36-year-old Fallon man died Tuesday morning in an crash involving a farm tractor and a car on Highway 50 east of Fallon. Justin M. Edgemon died at the scene of the accident reported shortly before 6 a.m., according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Prescribed burns at Tunnel Creek in the Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park backcountry will be held March through May weather permitting, according to the Nevada Division of Forestry.

The Tunnel Creek road, from State Route 28 to Tunnel Creek Station, may be closed in order to conduct the burns. Signs will be posted throughout the area when burns are being conducted.
