Many individuals think the time to plan for 2013 year is past, and most of them are correct. The door to almost all tax saving moves or actions for 2013 closed on Dec. 31, 2013. However, there are some exceptions regarding IRA contributions and some retirement plan contributions.

Contributions to traditional (regular) IRAs for the tax year of 2013, can be made as late as April 15, 2014 and still be a 2013 deduction if certain rules are met.

Carson CIty firefighters were called Monday night to Sierra Vista at Carson River Road for a small brushfire southeast of Carson City.

According to Carson City dispatch the fire was reported to be about 10 feet by 20 feet in size when firefighters arrived, where they quickly knocked it down. All second responding engines called to the fire were canceled, according to dispatch.

A man wanted in Nevada on drug trafficking charges by the U.S. Marshal Service was arrested Friday in California.

Davis Gomez was taken into custody by Antioch Police Department officers after they were alerted the man was wanted through the U.S. Marshal Service, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the victims involved in a motorcycle crash in Carson City late Saturday night.
They are Andrey L. Gallegos, 20, of Sparks, who was the driver of the motorcycle and passenger Audrey G. Rugamas, 21, of South Lake Tahoe, said NHP Trooper Dave Gibson. The two are reported to be critically injured and on life support.

The Department of Public Safety, Nevada Highway Patrol along with the Nevada Department of Transportation and Regional Transportation Commission have adopted the Share the Road campaign in Northern Nevada.

A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday on multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after a chase through a field near Highway 50 and Fairview Drive.

Hector Cervantes is being held in Carson City Jail without bail on a parole violation charge and $10,428 bail for other charges.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded at 12:31 a.m. to the 2800 block of Century Drive where there had been several people outside a home yelling and screaming. It turned out to be a large house party where several underage people were drinking.

A 50-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested in Carson City Saturday on a felony fugitive justice warrant out of Texas. Loures Ruano was being held on $500,337 and is awaiting extradition.

According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to Raley's in the 3700 block of South Carson Street on a call about a larceny in which two people were detained for shoplifting.
