A home care provider was booked Friday into Carson City Jail on three felony warrants charges involving burglary, grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

Ella May Dix, 50, of Reno was taken into custody by the Carson City Sheriff's Office after the woman arrived at the front counter for the warrants. The three felony charges are out of Las Vegas Justice Court and issued Jan. 15, 2014. Bail: $80,000.

While rain and snow showers didn't quite make it to Carson City over the weekend, winter storms did give the Sierra and Lake Tahoe areas a much-needed snowpack boost with more on the way, according to the National Weather Service.

Recently, I have received many requests for information in regards to riding scooters on city streets and so I am providing an update to my September 2013 column.

Motor scooters and mopeds have become common on the streets of Carson City. I am regularly asked if mopeds and motor scooters are legal as many are unregistered. Yes, some scooters may be operated upon the roadways however, there are restrictions. First, you cannot operate the scooter in a travel lane where the speed zone exceeds the scooters maximum speed.

Carson City Fire Department emergency responders ordered two Care Flight helicopters Sunday morning after a two vehicle crash at College Parkway and Northgate. One of two people injured was reported to be pregnant.

The crash was reported at 10:06 a.m. Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies are re-routing traffic around the accident scene. College Parkway has been shut down at Carson Street.

The condition of the two injured is unknown at this time. Both will be flown to the trauma unit of Renown Medical Center in Reno.

Jams don’t get much more stressful than the one relief pitcher Spencer Greer dealt with on Saturday afternoon at John L. Harvey Field in Carson City.

The Western Nevada College sophomore was protecting a one-run lead against College of Southern Idaho with the potential tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.

With a base open, Greer instead focused on cleanup hitter R.J. Bush, retiring him looking at a third-strike curveball.

A prescribed fire in the Round Hill area at Lake Tahoe is putting up a lot of smoke that has made its way into the Carson City and Dayton areas, officials said Saturday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff's Office dispatcher confirmed the prescribed fire is off of Kent Way and is part of an active controlled burn that is indeed putting off a lot of smoke. Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District has a crew on the prescribed burn. The U.S. Forest Service reports a prescribed burn in the Cave Rock area as well.

Organizers of the the Vietnam Veterans Day ceremony slated for Mills Park today announced the ceremony has moved to the Carson Nugget ballroom beginning at 5:30 p.m. A reception will follow beginning at 6 p.m.

Rick Arnold, President of the Carson City Area Chapter 388 of the Vietnam Veterans of America announced the event was changed due to weather conditions.

The Chapter, a Commemorative Partner in The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, is holding the event to focus attention on the 50th anniversary of the War.
