Happening this weekend: Friends of the Douglas County Library Book Sale

The Friends of the Douglas County Library will host a two-day used book sale, Friday and Saturday, August 18-19, at the Minden Library, 1625 Library Lane, Minden.

A preview sale for members of Friends of the Library will be from 3 to 5:30 pm on Friday. Non-members can join at the door. Members of the Friends receive a 10% discount on all purchases throughout the sale.

Minden's Kids & Horses to host "Raise the Barn" fall fundraiser on Sept. 16

Kids & Horses presents"Raise' the Barn" fall fundraiser at Crystal Bay Casino on Sept. 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The organization will have Reckless Envy playing dancing tunes, Country Casey teaching line dancing, a BBQ dinner, Spirit Tasting with 72 Mile Spirits, and more.

Carson City deputies make Monday arrest for possession of controlled substance

A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday, for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor charges of driving an unregistered vehicle on the roadway, driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance.

Carson City School Board approves administration pay increases, change in employment status policy

The Carson City School District and the School Board of Trustees approved salary increases for administration in the school district at the Aug. 8 school board meeting.

After the teachers and staff recieved a salary increase on July 25, these negotiations did not extend towards staff not covered by the union and not apart of their collective bargaining groups.

Traffic accident reported near East Fifth Street and South Stewart Street

A traffic accident was reported around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday near East Fifth and South Stewart Street.

Traffic is currently not blocked. There were at least two of the cars that were involved in the collision. There are no known injuries currently reported.

Avoid the area if possible.

Douglas County working to identify residents affected by incorrect property tax collection
