Carson City deputies make Monday arrest for possession of controlled substance
A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday, for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanor charges of driving an unregistered vehicle on the roadway, driving without a license and driving without proof of insurance.
The officer who made the arrest saw Arturo Avalos in a blue sedan leaving the Slotworld parking lot around 10:19 a.m. with an expired California registration plate from November 2022.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop along College Parkway off of Highway 50. The vehicle was occupied with three males, including Arturo as the driver.
When the deputy asked for a driver's license and proof of insurance and registration, Arturo provided his driver’s license but had no insurance or car registration. The deputy asked if there was anything illegal in the car and Arturo said no.
A records check was conducted and Arturo’s returned with an expired driver’s license and a non-extraditable warrant out of North Carolina.
Arturo and his passengers consented to a search of the car where the deputy noticed a pink gum container that contained a plastic bag with methamphetamine inside. Arturo advised the officer that the drugs were his.
Arturo was arrested and transported to Carson City Jail with no incident. Bail: $3541.
